Matt Van Dyke
Director of Sports Science for the Houston Texans

Matt Van Dyke is the Director of Sports Science for the Houston Texans. Matt is responsible for the management of training loads and other performance aspects implemented to each individual athlete in order to maximize performance and readiness. Prior to his position with Houston, Matt was the Associate Director of Applied Sports Science at the University of Texas where he was responsible for the oversight of the football team in regard to training loads and recovery processes applied in order to create an optimal level of performance. Matt has also held leading positions with the University of Denver and the University of Minnesota.

 Matt has published several books on sports science, including Force is King, Isometrics for Performance and Applied Principles of Optimal Power Development with Max Schmarzo, and Triphasic Lacrosse Training Manual. He presented at the 2018 RAWO Performance Clinic on the Implementation of an Effective Annual Plan to Achieve Optimal Performance and 2015 CSCCa National Conference on Advanced Triphasic Training Methods. Matt also co-authored Triphasic Training, A High School Strength and Conditioning Manual and Balance of Power in the September 2014 issue of Training and Conditioning, and has articles on xlathlete.com, while also writing for his professional website vandykestrength.com. Matt is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC). He earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Iowa State University in December of 2012.

Ryan Grubbs
Director of Speed Development/Asst. S&C- Houston Texans, Director of Insight & Innovation- Speedworks Solution

Ryan took up his post at the Houston Texans in 2022 as Applied Biomechanics Coordinator, and now serves as Director of Speed Development.  He has extensive experience working across college football in the US.  In addition to his role at the Texans, he is also Director of Insights and Innovation at Speed Solutions, a company dedicated to world class coaching with computer vision and artificial intelligence.  Prior to joining the Texans, he has held various roles at Liberty Univesity in Virginia, Purdue, Louisiana Tech, Ole Miss and Indianapolis.

Felix Proessl
Director of Sports Science at the University of Pittsburgh & Adjunct Faculty in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Science.

Dr. Proessl joined the Panthers’ Athletics Department in 2022 after completing his doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh’s Neuromuscular Research Laboratory while simultaneously working with Pitt’s Men’s Soccer program. Prior to Pittsburgh, Dr. Proessl earned a Master’s degree in Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO while working as a graduate research assistant at the Integrative Neurophysiology Laboratory and volunteering for the women’s soccer team. During his undergraduate at Hastings College in Hastings, NE, Dr. Proessl competed for the school’s soccer program while double-majoring in Exercise Science and Economics. Born and raised in Germany, Dr. Proessl also gained practical experience at Borussia Dortmund and VFL Bochum.

With an interest in neuroscience and human performance optimization, Dr. Proessl published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Experimental Brain Research, Brain Research, Journal of Neurophysiology, Journal of Neurotrauma, Brain Stimulation, the Journal of Applied Physiology and the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and is an advocate for data-informed decision making during the day-to-day operations within athletics.

Lauren Green
Performance & Data Science Consultant

Lauren is the founder of Greenhouse Performance Solutions, a sports performance training and sports science consulting business that helps athletes, coaches, and sports organizations achieve their goals through cutting-edge research, personalized training programs, and expert guidance. With certifications as a CSCS, RSCC, PES, and PN1, Lauren brings extensive experience and expertise to their clients. 

Lauren holds a master’s in applied Exercise Science from Concordia University Chicago and a bachelor’s in physical education from St. Cloud State University. He has served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Louisiana State University, designing, and implementing holistic athletic performance programs for the men's basketball team. As the Director of Sports Science at UC San Diego, Lauren created and implemented an integrated and comprehensive athletic development system for all 19 sports and 500+ student-athletes, leading athletic performance program design and professional development of S&C Coaching staff. Before UC San Diego, Lauren served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning / Sport Science  Coach at the Brooklyn Nets, where he assisted with research-based S&C and return to play programs. 

With a diverse range of experiences and expertise, Lauren is dedicated to improving athletic performance through advanced training methodologies, sports science, and individualized coaching.
