WESTBROOK, ME - Hawkin Dynamics is excited to announce our official corporate partnership with the University of Louisville Athletics Department and UofL Health. The corporate partnership includes the University’s use of twelve Hawkin Dynamics’ Force Plates and a resident position of Karah Bell, Director of Basketball Innovation at Louisville.
Research and innovation are the building blocks of this partnership working towards changing the industry and setting a new standard. The twelve force plates will be instrumental tools for the University of Louisville for the basketball, football, Olympic sports programs, and UofL Health Sports Medicine Institute.
Bell’s main responsibilities include data analysis and collection, educational digital marketing, in addition to event support for Hawkin. Bell serves as an assistant strength and conditioning coach and applied performance scientist for the men’s basketball program. She works closely with Dr. Adam Petway, Director of Strength & Conditioning. Bell finished an internship with Hawkin Dynamics in the summer of 2021 as an Administrative and Operations Intern and has been with the University of Louisville since September of 2022.
“Hawkin Dynamics portable dual force plates optimize neuromuscular assessment for us,” Dr. Petway said. "Throughout the competitive season, we put them court side. Based on convenience and effectiveness, they are the best way to measure neuromuscular function both in and out of season.”
Dr. Petway is a long time Hawkin user and leading applied biomechanist in the field of sports performance.
Hawkin is excited to see the work coming out of the University of Louisville. Bell’s ability to think outside of the box and innovate in the field of sports performance is what makes her unique. Her background in operations, sports performance, and data science make her the perfect fit for this role – the first of its kind in collegiate athletics.
Bell joined the Cardinals after two years at Gonzaga University, where she earned her master's degree in Sport and Athletic Administration. At GU, she also served as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach with primary oversight over four programs and aiding with many others. Before joining the Zags at GU, Bell completed strength and conditioning internships with the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and the University of Illinois Springfield working primarily with Olympic sports.
A native of Springfield, Illinois, she received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from the University of Illinois Springfield. Bell is a certified strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
